hold on, people ! "Saturday afternoon in front of a subway station a group of young people appeared carrying chairs. They sat down and began to talk with each other. "Warsaw is missing areas where you could sit down, talk or even eat a sandwich in an incidental company." Having chairs on the square in front of subway station was supposed to show how easy is to create a citizen-friendly urban area. Everyone in mood for a talk with others or for a minute relax could join the happening. However, most of walkers just would cross the place in a rush and disappear in the subway entrance door. |
There were two older ladies sitting for a while at chairs and one gentleman who joined the conversation - have a look what's going on here - he said. People are in such hurry that doesn't have a time for anything - said Beata Barszcz, for whom the situation became an occasion to smoke a cigarette. Fight for better public space will be continued. In the middle of October rzad krzesel will appear at Constitution Square. - We had a great time, when sitting here. We can already invite people for our next event - says Zuzanna Fogtt, one from organizers". [from Gazeta Wyborcza 16 sept 2001] go back |
